Welcome! Wikis are websites that everyone can build together. It's easy!

Hillarious!

I'd like to share a funny experience I had in Bangkok.

We usually go to Patphong at night to do some night shopping and, more importantly, find a place where we can have dinner (because we're sure that we'll find food outlets open at any given time during the evening). We lined up in one of the fast food stores. The place was swarming with people of different nationality. There were about three foreigners in front of me and they had difficulty communicating with the crew member.

While they placed their orders the crew was obviously exhasperated. So when they finally got their food and left the counter, the guy at the cashier took one look at me, smiled and did a gesture which I believed was a sigh of relief. I fired away with my order. "One chicken please," I said. He leaned and asked "Thai?" (or so I thought...)

I was thinking that maybe he was looking for someone he can talk to in his native language and since my face could be mistaken for a Thai, I immediately corrected him saying, "No, I'm a Filipino."

My companions giggled and the guy seemed taken aback by my reply. He again asked, "Thai?... (I think I heard him right)... thigh or leg?" (Oh, he meant thigh part, not Thai, duh!) Embarassed, I just quickly countered, "no, leg part please," and left the counter to find an available table.
